Ahead of the 2024 French Open however, Ruud won the title in Geneva before falling in the semifinal of Roland Garros to Alexander Zverev.

Ruud won his first ATP 500 title at the 2024 Barcelona Open, defeating Tsitsipas in straight sets to win the biggest title of his career after seven attempts. At the 2024 Monte Carlo Masters, he reached the final after defeating No. 1 Novak Djokovic in the semifinal; however, he lost to Tsitsipas in the final. He recorded his 100th hardcourt win after reaching the fourth round of the 2024 Miami Open.

He reached the final of the 2024 Los Cabos Open and the 2024 Mexican Open, losing to Jordan Thompson and Alex de Minaur in the final. By reaching the quarterfinals of the 2024 Paris Olympics, Ruud became the first Norwegian player to achieve this feat and recorded his 250th career win against Francisco Cerúndolo. Along with Alex de Minaur and Andrey Rublev, Ruud has claimed the final three singles positions at the 2024 Nitto ATP Finals.

How Many Grand Slam Finals Has Casper Ruud Been in?

Casper Ruud has been a finalist at three Grand Slams (the 2022 French Open, the 2022 US Open, and the 2023 French Open).

In order to reach his first-ever major quarterfinal at the 2022 French Open and become the first Norwegian to advance past the fourth round of this major, Casper Ruud defeated Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Emil Ruusuvuori, Lorenzo Sonego, and No. 12 seed Hubert Hurkacz. He beat Holger Rune in the first all-Scandinavian French Open quarterfinal to set up a match with first-time Roland Garros semi-finalist Marin Čilić.

Casper Ruud then defeated Čilić in four sets to advance to the final, making him the first-ever Norwegian to do so at a Grand Slam. Rafael Nadal defeated him in straight sets in the final, but due to Ruud's performance, he rose to a new career-high singles ranking of world No. 6 on June 6, 2022, and to World No. 5 a week later.

Ruud was one of five players in the draw at the 2022 US Open who had a chance to claim the World No. 1 spot (the others being Medvedev, Tsitsipas, Nadal and Alcaraz). He defeated Kyle Edmund, Tim van Rijthoven and Tommy Paul to advance to the fourth round. His match against Paul went to five sets and lasted almost four hours. He then defeated Corentin Moutet, Matteo Berrettini and Karen Khachanov to advance to his second major final. Carlos Alcaraz, the third seed, defeated him in four sets to win the title. On September 12, 2022, he reached a new career high of No. 2 in the world.

The Norwegian Casper Ruud reached the quarterfinals of the 2023 French Open by defeating qualifiers Giulio Zeppieri, Elias Ymer, Zhang Zhizhen and Nicolás Jarry. He once again defeated Rune in four sets in a rematch of the quarterfinal from the previous year. He triumphed once more, defeating Alexander Zverev in straight sets in his third major semifinal. He was defeated by Novak Djokovic in the final in straight sets.
