After battling his way to the Wimbledon 2024 finals through a stunning victory against Lorenzo Musetti, 24-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic opened up about his formative years in Serbia. The crowd present at Centre Court was taken back to the Serbian tennis maestro's early years, a time of unrest and uncertainty in his native country.

In a dominant display, Novak Djokovic booked his place in the Wimbledon 2024 finals with a commanding 6-4, 7-6(2), 6-4 victory over Lorenzo Musetti. Djokovic was a force to be reckoned with throughout the match, as his expertise and focus proved to be decisive. Musetti, despite his valiant efforts, struggled to counter Djokovic's powerful serve and pinpoint groundstrokes. This sets the stage for a highly anticipated rematch with Carlos Alcaraz in Sunday's final.

After the match, Djokovic recalled his early years growing up in Serbia, where he saw the atrocities of war. At that time, he dreamt of playing on the Centre Court at Wimbledon. The thought of playing at Wimbledon provided comfort to him in the middle of the mayhem.

"It's a childhood dream for me, to play it, to win it, I was a 7 year old boy in Serbia watching the bombs fly over my head and dreaming of being in the most important court in the world, which is here the Centre Court of Wimbledon, Constructing Wimbledon trophy out of any material i had in the room," Djokovic said during his post match interview on the Centre Court.

"I had tremendous support, of course from my family members, my wife has been there with me for many-many years, now my children as well, it's been an incredible journey, so I try not to take if for granted," Djokovic said.

The record-time Grand Slam winner is now gearing up to face up-and coming star Carlos Alcaraz in what will be a repeat of the 2023 finals. Alcaraz, the defending champion, defeated Djokovic last year to claim his maiden Wimbledon title.

With both players in top form, the tennis world can expect nothing short of a high-octane battle, one in which youthful exuberance meets experience in the pursuit of the sport's most coveted trophy.
