The International Tennis Federation (ITF) reported the sad news of the death of 15-year-old Prayoga Achmadi. He was a tennis player from Indonesia competing at the FIKS Open for under-16 boys in Bandung, Indonesia.
Achmadi collapsed on court during his semi-final against Bryan Husin and his condition was critical as he was taken to a nearby hospital, about 300 metres from the stadium.
“He collapsed on the field,” said tournament director Ganjar Kurnia. “The medical team [was] deployed to centre field to give relief [before Achmadi] was taken in critical condition to the hospital, which is about 300 meters from the ground.”Achmadi had reached a career-high of No. 1272 in the combined junior world rankings in the first week of December.
He was amongst the more promising players from Indonesia, having been selected for the ITF High Performance Training Camp in Bangkok in 2012.
