In the second match of the day at the Coca-Cola International Premier Tennis League, league leaders Indian Aces will take on Singapore slammers. When the two sides met in Manila, the Aces smashed the Slammers 26-16. However, with home support on their side, the Singapore Slammers will prove to be a much tougher opposition this time around.
It might be first against last, but the Slammers have enough quality in the team to break the Aces’ unbeaten run.
Only time will tell if the Singapore Slammers be able to register their first one in the IPTL.
Men’s singles
Gael Monfils is the favourite in his encounter against Australian Lleyton Hewitt. The Frenchman is high on confidence following a convincing 6-1 victory over Hewitt in Manila.
Monfils had a great tournament so far and he is enjoying his game. His trick shots and unusual sliding technique, makes him the pick of the match.
Women’s singles
The women’s singles tie will see World No. 1 Serena Williams take on Ana Ivanovic. The high energy levels of the two players will make the set a very entertaining one. The two superstars of women’s tennis will be facing each other for the first time in the IPTL.
With the aggressive forehands, Ivanovic will have better answers to the Serena’s serves, which makes this particular contest one to watch out for.
Men’s doubles
Playing for the home team, Tomas Berdych and Nick Kyrgios will take on Indian doubles specialist Rohan Bopanna and the ever energetic Gael Monfils. The Slammers’ pair was able to stop the Aces’ in their last meeting. The Indian-French pair will be looking for revenge this time around.
Berdych will be keen to use his strong forehands and with the support from young Nick Kyrgios, they would be ready to flip the cards.
Mixed doubles
The Indian Aces duo of Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna are unbeaten so far in mixed doubles category. The two have taken the IPTL by storm, performing exceptionally in all their previous three matches.
They will face the erratic pair of Nick Krygios and Serena. The Slammers have been changing partners in this category and still are looking for a perfect medley.
Legend’s singles
The Slammers may field Andre Agassi or Patrick Rafter, as they haven’t won a single set in this category. The Aces will continue placing their faith in Fabrice Santoro, who seems to be enjoying his tennis in the Happiness Open.
He defeated Patrick Rafter in their last meeting in Manilla. Santoro is the favourite to win the set for the Aces with the help of his clever serves and skilful volleying.
