Danka Kovinic vs Alycia Parks prediction

2022 Australian Open: Day 6 Danka Kovinic
2022 Australian Open: Day 6 Danka Kovinic

An engrossing encounter is on the cards at the Lyon Open as two players, who are determined to make a strong impact on the main tour, battle it out for a place in the semi-finals. Kovinic and Parks are both coming off sensational comeback wins in their last round and will be eager to make the business end of the tournament.

Ad

Kovinic served well in her previous match, winning 75 percent of her first serve points and saving nine out of 12 break points against Bondar. It often takes a while for her to get used to the conditions but once the Montenegrin finds her feet, it is difficult to stop her. Parks will need to bring her A-game to the fore and do her homework before she takes to the court on Friday.

The American also served well, winning 73 percent of her first serve points and saving three out of five break-points against Martic. She's already rocketed 19 aces in the tournament so it is no surprise that her game is heavily dependent on her serve and powerful groundstrokes off both wings. However, Parks is still adjusting to the higher level and will take time to manage her game better in the future.

Kovinic will be the favorite, considering her experience on the main tour and strong result in her previous match. The seventh seed showed fantastic grit and resilience to fight back and secure her place in the last eight. Her opponent Parks has great potential to succeed at the highest level and will make it tough for Kovinic in the quarter-finals, but the seventh seed should be able to book her spot in the last four.

Pick: Kovinic to win in three sets.
