Maria Sharapova has praised her hairstylist Adir Abergel for sacrificing time spent on an island to spend his birthday at work. Abergel decked up the former player for the Fashion Awards 2024 in London.
Sharapova, the former World No. 1 and one of the best tennis players of her time, recently graced the Fashion Awards with the legendary Venus Williams on December 2, 2024. The 37-year-old took the stage to present the Trailblazer award to the CEO of Monclers, Remo Ruffini. She took to her Instagram story to post a picture with Ruffini and paired it with the caption:
"Honored to have presented @remoruffini with the Trailblazer award."
Dressed in an off-white blazer two-piece, the Russian stunned in a loosely kept hair and posted a story about how she referenced the 90s for this look.
"Those 90's campaign references? All for this look," her caption read.
In another story, the Olympic medalist snapped her hairstylist Adir Abergel smiling and scrolling through some papers. Beside him was a table on which was a cake with strawberry filing and a candle placed on top among other things.
In the caption, Maria Sharapova was all praises for Abeler for celebrating his birthday at work when his ideal birthday celebration could have involved a quality time in a remote island.
"He could have spent his birthday on a remote island drinking a pina colada, but instead this special human @hairbyadir spent it in working. A true friend," Sharapova lovingly captioned.
Venus Williams, the seven-time Grand Slam winner, also attended the show in a stunning black dress with a plunging neckline and layered it with a long black coat.
With 49 WTA Tour-level titles in her repertoire, Williams became the only active player with the most singles titles.
Maria Sharapova spent her Thanksgiving with family away from all daily engagements
Sharapova and the founder of the online auction website Paddle 8 Alexander Gilkes announced their engagement in 2020. Two years later, they welcomed their son Theodore and has since been making public appearances as a family of three.
Maria Sharapova was pleased to spend Thanksgiving holiday away from her daily schedule with family. Her caption read:
"I forgot how peaceful this holiday is in the US. No emails. No zooms. No kids gymnastics classes. No invoices."
Sharapova is one of the six players to win the career Golden Slam. She won five major titles, two at the French Open and one each at the Wimbledon, US Open and Australian Open.
