22-year-old Marta Kostyuk is a professional tennis star from Ukraine who was born on June 28, 2002, in Kyiv. She made headlines after reaching the quarterfinals at the 2024 Australian Open. That was her best major result so far, and she broke into the WTA top 30 after this result.

Kostyuk began playing tennis at the age of five, and was an accomplished junior player. She won some prestigious junior tennis tournaments, such as the 'Orange Bowl' in Florida, and 'Petits As' in France. In 2017, she won two junior grand slam titles, including the Australian Open girls' singles championships and the US Open girls' doubles title. She achieved her highest junior ranking of No. 2 in October 2017.

Kostyuk turned professional in 2018 and made her main draw tour-level debut at the Australian Open in 2018, becoming the first player born in 2002 to play in a major main draw. She defeated Peng Shuai in the first round of the 2018 Australian Open, becoming the youngest player to win a main-draw match at the Australian Open since Martina Hingis in 1996. She won her first WTA singles title at the ATX Open in 2023. She also has won one doubles title, which came at the Slovenia Open in 2022.
