Diego Schwartzman vs Yibing Wu preview
Thirty-first seed Diego Schwartzman will take on reigning Dallas winner Yibing Wu in the second round of the 2023 Miami Open on Friday (March 24).
The World No. 38 has won only twice in nine matches this year, with his only wins coming in the opening round at the Australian Open and Indian Wells. Schwartzman has arrived in Miami with an opening-round loss in the Phoenix Challenger.
Before his second win of 2023 at Indian Wells two weeks ago, the 30-year-old had stumbled in the opening round at all four Golden Swing tournaments he competed in. He won only one set across four matches in Cordoba, Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro and Santiago.
Meanwhile, World No. 64 Wu is enjoying a career year, winning his first title of the year in Dallas last month, beating three Americans - including John Isner in the final - along the way. With his first-round win over Kyle Edmund, Wu has improved to an impressive 7-2 for the season.
Wu is coming off a second-round loss at Indian Wells, having won the Cleveland Challenger title just before his Dallas triumph.

Diego Schwartzman vs Yibing Wu prediction
Schwartzman and Wu have similar game styles, as they look to dominate opponents from the back of the court.
However, Wu has a distinct advantage over the diminutive Schwartzman, as he serves big, hits powerfully off both flanks and is a good mover — attributes that pay rich dividends on a fast surface like hardcourt.
Schwartzman, despite his modest attributes, is a former top-ten player and is a counterpuncher par excellence. He tends to play his best tennis on claycourts but is no slouch on hardcourts.
However, the Argentinian is in the midst of a horror run, losing all four matches in the Golden Swing and losing in the opening round at six tournaments across the ATP and Challenger Tours. He's unlikely to find much joy against Wu, who's playing the best tennis of his career.
Pick: Wu in straight sets
