Second seed and home favorite Emma Navarro is set to square off against sixth seed Linda Noskova in a blockbuster semifinal clash at the 2024 Monterrey Open on Tuesday, August 23.

Navarro entered the Monterrey Open with a 43-18 match record and one title from Hobart earlier in the year. She began her tournament with a hard-fought 3-6, 7-5, 7-6(2) victory over Camila Osorio in the second round, having received a first-round bye.

In the quarterfinals, Navarro started strongly against ninth seed Magdalena Frech, breaking serve and finding herself at a match point. Frech, however, scripted an incredible comeback from 2-5 (30-40) down to win the first set in a tie-breaker.

Navarro quickly put the setback behind her, winning the second set without dropping a game. The third set was also one-sided in favor of the higher-ranked American, who secured a decisive 6-7(3), 6-0, 6-2 victory.

Noskova, meanwhile, began her campaign with a straightforward 6-0, 6-1 victory over Anna Danilina in the first round. She faced Xiyu Wang in the second round and secured a 6-4, 7-6(11) win, courtesy of an epic tie-break in the second set.

Noskova faced fifth seed Elina Svitolina in the quarterfinals. A single break in the first set was sufficient for her to win it. The second set was played out similarly, with Noskova dominating from all areas of the court to secure a routine 6-4, 6-4 victory.

She was particularly impressive with her serve in her last match, winning an incredible 100% of points on her first serve. She also performed well on returns and played an excellent match overall, aside from a minor setback in the first set.

Meanwhile, Noskova has been in outstanding form in Monterrey. Her serving has been exceptional, having been broken only twice across her three matches. Her blistering pace from the baseline, combined with her delicate touch, has proven effective and could be a strong strategy moving forward on the hard courts.

Navarro enters the match as the favorite to advance, despite Noskova's impressive form of late.
