Novak Djokovic celebrated his tenth wedding anniversary with wife Jelena Djokovic on Wednesday, July 10 with a montage of their moments together through the years coupled with an adorable poem. Djokovic and Jelena's relationship goes back to the 2000s when they first crossed paths.
They were initially just friends who played tennis together. Their relationship turned romantic a couple of years later. Djokovic finally popped the question to Jelena in Monte Carlo after eight years of dating.
The pair tied the knot in a private ceremony among family and friends at the Aman Sveti Stefan resort in Montenegro in July 2014. They have since welcomed two children, son Stefan in October 2014 and daughter Tara in September 2017.
Celebrating a decade-long partnership, the Serb and his wife took to social media to share a heartfelt montage of their best moments. They gave fans a glimpse into their archived photos and videos on Instagram, including very old clips of them together.
The post also includes a beautiful poem in the caption in which the tennis icon and his wife pay tribute to their times together, including becoming parents.
"Ten years of joy, Ten years of dreams, Ten years as islands, Ten years as streams. Ten years as parents, Ten years as one, Ten years of dancing, Ten years of fun. Ten years of yoga, Ten years we stretch, Ten years of dogs, Ten years go fetch," Jelena and Novak Djokovic's post reads.
The post continues,
"Ten years of flying, Ten years at sea, Ten years of you, The best part of me. Ten years of tennis, Ten years of balls, Ten years of triumph, Ten years of falls. Ten years as teammates, Ten years together, Ten years Jelena, I love you forever. I love you."
The post came hours after Djokovic handed Holger Rune a crushing 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 defeat in the fourth round of the 2024 Wimbledon Championships. He was next due to face Alex de Minaur in the quarterfinals.
The Australian, however, was forced to pull out ahead of their contest due to a hip injury sustained during his fourth-round clash with Arthur Fils. Djokovic awaits either Taylor Fritz or Lorenzo Musetti in the semifinals.
What lies ahead for Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon
Novak Djokovic might have been a shadow of himself all year, but he sure has turned up the heat at the All England Club. He's been in scintillating form so far barring a few minor hiccups along the way.
He opened his campaign with a routine win over Vit Kopriva but was tested in the following two rounds by Jacob Fernley and Alexei Popyrin. He was back to his dominating best against Holger Rune, outclassing his lower-ranked Danish opponent in straight sets.
Alex de Minaur withdrew ahead of their clash, handing him a ticket to his 12th Wimbledon semifinal. Djokovic will either face Taylor Fritz or Lorenzo Musetti in the next round.
Fritz has been in impressive form at the Championships and has seen Alexander Zverev off. Fritz has never beaten Djokovic in their previous nine encounters and will be looking to cause a first such upset.
Musetti, meanwhile, has been tested all week, but has somehow managed to find a way to win. He's won one match against Djokovic in his six attempts.
