After spending quality time with boyfriend Georgios, Aryna Sabalenka "excited" to take part in Brisbane International
Aryna Sabalenka is set to kick off the 2025 season at the Brisbane International. Before competing in the tournament, she enjoyed some quality time in Brisbane with her entrepreneur boyfriend, Georgios Frangulis.
At a pre-tournament press conference on Saturday, December 28, Sabalenka was asked how she felt about returning to her "happy hunting ground" as a two-time Australian Open winner and the current World No. 1.
She responded:
“It doesn't make any difference. Like doesn't matter what's your ranking. Anyway, you have to go there, compete, fight, do your best. It doesn't matter whether you're 1, 2, 3, or 100.”
The Belarusian was asked if her mindset had shifted as she returned to the venue where she had previously won two Grand Slam titles. She explained that her focus remained on self-improvement and giving her best effort to secure a third Australian Open title.
“It's good to know that you have this ability to win the Australia Open, but you better focus on yourself, improving yourself every day, yeah, do your best and hope for the best. That's my mentality going into the Australian Open,” Sabalenka said.
Sabalenka will begin her campaign in Brisbane International against Mexico’s Renata Zarazua on December 31. Following the tournament in Brisbane, she will shift her focus to the Melbourne Slam, which begins on January 12, 2025.
