Nick Kyrgios was irked by the Australian Open's decision to use Jannik Sinner to promote their event. The Aussie has been vehemently opposing the 'No Significant Fault or Negligence' verdicts of the Italian and Iga Swiatek's doping cases.

While Sinner tested positive for Clostebol during the Indian Wells Masters in March, Swiatek tested positive for Trimitedazidine in an out-of-competition test in August. However, after much investigation, the ITIA (International Tennis Integrity Agency) decided to let the Italian continue and gave the Pole a minor one-month suspension. The leniency of these verdicts hasn't sat well with the tennis fraternity.

Nick Kyrgios, who has incessantly expressed his disdain over the two verdicts, responded to Novak Djokovic super fan Pavvy G's recent tweet on X (formerly Twitter). Pavvy, who also opposes Sinner and Swiatek's verdicts, reacted to a video posted by the Australian Open on social media, which showed Jannik Sinner promoting the Happy Slam.

“Fancy getting a 2x failed drug test player to try and promote your event.”

Kyrgios responded:

“Not sure why we are sweeping it under the rug. Swiatek as well. It’s a joke.”

The Djokovic superfan concurred with Kyrgios:

“Spot on. It's bad enough that both of them were able to keep their failed drug tests as a secret for so long, bad enough that they got next to no punishment but to them keep on promoting them and eve treating them like victims is next level gaslighting!”

During his recent appearance in the Nothing Major podcast, Nick Kyrgios said he would love to face Jannik Sinner and added how he would cause an 'absolute riot' if they met at the Australian Open.

"But I feel like I've got a lot more, I've got something, you know, let's be honest. I just want to go out there and I really want to play Sinner. Like I'm waiting for it man," Kyrgios said.
"Well, I thought about this and I've been thinking, I've been talking about it a little bit, like if I played him in Australian Open, like I would get every single person in the crowd to just like get on him. Like I would just turn it into an absolute riot. Like I would lose all respect, all respect would go out the window and I would just do anything to win," he added.

However, many fans have taken umbrage to Kyrgios' scathing attacks and have requested the ATP to take some action against the Aussie.

Nick Kyrgios is slated to make his return to tennis at the 2025 Brisbane International. The 29-year-old has been out of action for over a year due to knee and wrist injuries.
