Alexander Zverev will face the winner of the quarterfinal between Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic in the 2025 Australian Open semifinal. The German shared his candid thoughts on the highly anticipated clash, adding a touch of humor to his verdict.

In the semifinals, Zverev, after his victory over Tommy Paul, will await the winner of Alcaraz vs. Djokovic. Last year, this matchup was the Wimbledon final and the Paris Olympics gold medal match. This is also the first time Alcaraz and Djokovic will face off in an event before the semifinal stage.

During the post-match interview after his quarterfinal triumph, Zverev was asked for his thoughts on the matchup.

"Absolutely boring matchup... No reason of staying here after you just witnessed Zverev-Paul," the German joked.

Zverev later added his honest verdict.

"No, I mean, two of the best players that probably ever touched a tennis racket. Novak is the greatest of all time right now. Carlos is going to be one of them when he hangs it up. So it's a clash of generations," Alexander Zverev said.
"They have played Grand Slam finals before. They have played the Olympic finals last year, so it's a privilege to witness it here in Australia. So please guys do enjoy it, and I think it's going to be a great match," he added.

On Tuesday, January 21, Zverev took on Paul in the first men's singles quarterfinal in Melbourne. The American had a 2-0 over the German in their head-to-head going into the tie.

In the first set, Paul secured a crucial break in the 11th game to lead 6-5, but Zverev fought back to force a tiebreaker and take the lead. Paul had another chance when he served for the set in the second, but Zverev once again rallied, winning another tiebreaker after play was briefly halted due to a feather.

Tommy Paul finally managed to win the third set after taking the lead, but Alexander Zverev dominated in the fourth, securing a 7-6(1), 7-6(0), 2-6, 6-1 victory.
