Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev are both chasing their piece of history at the 2025 Australian Open final. Sinner is eyeing a third consecutive hardcourt Grand Slam title and a successful Australian Open defense. Meanwhile, Zverev is hoping to get third time lucky as he has lost two Grand Slam finals.

After Novak Djokovic retired from the semifinal against Zverev, the German hopes for some luck in the final against Sinner. He said:

"Yeah, I mean, look, Grand Slam finals are always difficult. The two best players in the world are playing on that court. I lost twice in a fifth set, once in a fifth set tiebreaker at the US Open. So, I've had my tough losses. I feel like maybe it's time for me to have some luck in the Grand Slam final as well."

Zverev was defeated by Dominic Thiem in the 2020 US Open final via a fifth-set tiebreaker and was also a runner-up at the 2024 French Open after losing another five-set final against Carlos Alcaraz.

Sinner, on the other hand, won the 2024 Australian Open and the 2024 US Open. He is on a 20-match winning streak in hardcourt Grand Slam matches heading into the final. Zverev, however, holds a 4-2 lead in the head-to-head against the Italian.
