Daria Saville recently chronicled her egg-freezing procedure and decided to share her journey with her fans. The Australian followed in the footsteps of Sloane Stephens, who had also chronicled her egg-freezing journey earlier.

Saville recently revealed that she had gone through the egg-freezing cycle while she was recovering from an injury and shared that she didn't face side effects due to the procedure. She also mentioned how she got her doctor to make sure that the medications provided to her were not banned by WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency).

She took to Instagram to give her fans a look into what the procedure looked like.

"So I went through my egg freezing cycle maybe like six weeks ago. I did it while I was healing an injury so I wasn't training all that much. And honestly, I didn't have many side effects," Saville said.
"My sports doctor made sure that all the medications I was taking were not banned by anti-doping. I'm not scared of needles so that was fine. My husband was away so my friend took me to do the egg collection procedure."
"And yeah, I didn't really have any side effects after the procedure either," she added.

She mentioned in the caption that she was using an IUD (Intrauterine Device), one of the most effective forms of contraception that is inserted into the uterus. The Aussie said that it was possible to go through the procedure while keeping the IUD in.

"Haven’t seen an athlete share this so I thought i would hehe :) forgot to mention that I did the cycle with my IUD still in (yes you can keep your IUD). and yea I am already away competing again haha #eggfreezing," Daria Saville wrote in the caption.

Daria Saville is already back to competing. She returned to tennis at the W75 Petange 003, where she was seeded second. However, the 30-year-old was eliminated in the second round by the eventual champion Celine Naef.

Sloane Stephens had earlier shared with Cosmopolitan magazine that she underwent the egg-freezing procedure at the end of the 2022 season. The American said that she didn't want her biological clock to dictate how her career went.
