World No. 9 Alex De Minaur and girlfriend Katie Boulter were spotted together vacationing in the beautiful island of Capri in Italy. Both players last competed at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships this month.
While De Minaur chalked up a quarterfinal finish against Novak Djokovic, Boulter succumbed to a second-round exit against Harriet Dart. Despite a valiant effort against her compatriot, Boulter came up shy in three sets, 4-6, 6-1, 7-6(8).
Following a grueling schedule and impressive performances in the last few months, the couple rejoiced in some quality time off the court in Italy. Boulter took to her Instagram account and shared a candid snap of her basking in the sunlight while capturing the scenic beauty of Capri islands.
Alex De Minaur and Katie Boulter have been together since 2020 and made their relationship public in 2021. The pair are known for having playful banter with each other while documenting their journey for fans on social media.
Boulter exited the Wimbledon Championships in the second round but was present to support De Minaur during his matches in London.
The Australian outfoxed the likes of James Duckworth, Jaume Munur, Lucas Pouille, and Arthur Fils en route to the last eight, but couldn't clear the fitness test ahead of his quarterfinal bout against Djokovic. He confirmed his withdrawal due to a hip injury during a press conference at Wimbledon.
"I'm devastated, but I had to pull out due to a hip injury, a little tear of the fiber cartilage that is at the end to the adductor. I felt a loud crack during the last three points of my match against Fils and got a scan yesterday and it confirms that this was the injury. [There is] a high risk of making it worse if I was to step on court," he said.
Further adding that although he wished to recover for the 'biggest match of his career', De Minaur was forced to make the tough decision.
"It's no secret that at this stage in my career this was the biggest match of my career. I wanted to do anything I could to play. I got the results yesterday. I knew what the results were yesterday. I still wanted to wake up today hoping that I would feel some sort of miracle and not feel it while I'm walking," De Minaur added.
Katie Boulter and Alex De Minaur won tour-level titles in the same week before the Wimbledon Championships 2024
Katie Boulter and her boyfriend, Alex De Minaur won tour-level titles ahead of the 2024 Wimbledon Championships.
Boulter entered the grass court season on the back of a disappointing first-round exit in the French Open. She instantly made amends by outclassing the likes of Emma Raducanu, Magdalena Frech, and Karolina Pliskova in the Nottingham Open and successfully defended her title.
On the other hand, Alex De Minaur began his grasscourt swing on the back of a quarterfinal finish in Paris. He bested the likes of Ugo Humbert, Milos Raonic, and Sebastian Korda to lift the 2024 Libema Open. The Australian has reached three tour-level finals this year and also clinched the 2024 Mexican Open in Acapulco.
