Alex de Minaur took a moment to express his "condolences" to the victims of the devastating Los Angeles wildfire during the 2025 Australian Open. This gesture came after his second-round victory against American player Tristan Boyer, whose family had also been impacted by the tragic events.

De Minaur kicked off his 2025 season by representing Australia at the United Cup. Seeded eighth at the Melbourne Major, he began his Grand Slam campaign with a commanding win over Botic van de Zandschulp 6-1, 7-5, 6-4 in the first round.

In his most recent match, the former World No. 6 defeated American qualifier Tristan Boyer 6-2, 6-4, 6-3 to advance to the third round. Following his victory over Boyer, Alex De Minaur took the opportunity during the post-match interview to offer his "deepest condolences" to those affected by the Los Angeles wildfire.

“My deepest condolences to all those affected by the fires in California. It’s something you never want to see . I’m sending lots of love all the way there. Hopefully these bad times will pass by,” De Minaur said.

While speaking to ATPTour.com, Tristan Boyer, who had fought his way through the qualifying rounds to secure a spot in the main draw of the 2025 Australian Open, had shared that his family in Altadena had to evacuate their home due to the wildfire.

The American also revealed that his father, Chris, was the only one present when the evacuation order was issued, as the rest of his family, his mother and grandfather had traveled with him to Australia before the wildfires struck.

Tristan Boyer also revealed that his family and home have remained unharmed by the fire.
