Alex de Minaur was full of pride after his girlfriend Katie Boulter reached a new career-high rank courtesy of an epic run to the final at the 2024 Hong Kong Open. The in-form Brit was, however, defeated by Diana Shnaider in the summit clash.
Boulter is having a career-best season, with two titles under her belt: the San Diego Open and a successful defense of her Rothesay Open title. She also reached a career-high ranking of 27 earlier in the year in March.
Now, the Brit No. 1 has added another accolade to her dream season by reaching a new career-high ranking of 23 courtesy of her run to the final at the Hong Kong Open.
Seeded second, she ousted Ito Aoi, Wang Xinyu, Anastasia Zakharova, and sixth seed Yue Yuan to reach the final and only dropped a single set en route to the summit clash where she met top seed Diana Shnaider. However, Shnaider proved to be too strong for Boulter, as the latter was decimated 1-6, 2-6 by the Russian.
Katie Boulter took to Instagram to open up about her run and was excited to go home after some gruelling weeks of tennis.
"Not the one I wanted 😭 But proud of my head and fight this week. 7 weeks later and I can finally go home 🥹 Thank you Asia and @hk_tennisopen for making it feel like home 👋🪫❤️," Boulter wrote.
Boulter's boyfriend Alex de Minaur shared her post on his Instagram story and attached a loving message.
“So proud of you. New career high,” De Minaur wrote.
The couple has been dating since 2020 and is often seen supporting each other. They also frequently share highlights from their escapades with their fans on social media.
Katie Boulter will next be seen in action at the 2024 Billie Jean King Cup, Alex de Minaur will head to Belgrade as the race to Turin heats up
Katie Boulter will head to the 2024 Billie Jean King Cup where she will headline Team Great Britain. She is slated to be joined by Emma Raducanu, Harriet Dart, Heather Watson, and Olivia Nicholls. Their team will be captained by Anna Keothavong.
Team Great Britain will kick off their campaign against Germany and the winner of their tie will play defending champions Canada in the quarterfinals.
Her boyfriend, Alex de Minaur, on the other hand, will be competing at the Belgrade Open as the top seed. Currently ranked eighth in the world, he's on track to qualify for this year's Nitto ATP Finals.
However, the battle for the final three spots in the Nitto ATP Finals is still ongoing, involving Novak Djokovic, Casper Ruud, Andrey Rublev, and the Aussie.
