Alexander Bublik appeared to take a subtle jab at Nick Kyrgios over his remarks on the recent doping controversies. Bublik distanced himself from the Australian’s criticism of Jannik Sinner and Iga Swiatek, making it clear he didn’t share the same views.

In March 2024, Jannik Sinner tested positive for Clostebol, a banned anabolic steroid, during an in-competition test at the Indian Wells Masters. However, the ITIA cleared him of suspension after finding that trace amounts of the substance unintentionally entered his system when his former physiotherapist, who had used Trofodermin (a clostebol-containing spray) on a cut, later massaged Sinner’s legs and feet with bare hands.

In November 2024, Iga Swiatek received a one-month ban from the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) after testing positive for the banned substance trimetazidine (TMZ), which was found to have entered her system through a contaminated non-prescription melatonin supplement she used for jetlag. The ITIA concluded there was "No Significant Fault or Negligence," as her fault was minimal and fell at the lowest end of the scale, with no intent involved.

In a recent interview with Match TV on January 4, Alexander Bublik was asked about the ongoing doping incidents involving Sinner and Swiatek in the tennis world. Sharing his thoughts, Bublik responded with a popular line from the movie Kung Fu Panda, quoting Master Oogway:

“Master Oogway in Kung Fu Panda says, ‘There are no accidents.’ That would be my answer.”

When asked if he found something “fishy” about those doping cases, the Kazakhstani tennis player responded:

“I think that accidents are not accidental. I can quote more proverbs and sayings… ‘There is no smoke without fire.’ ‘If the shoe fits...’ That's what I think.”

Nick Kyrgios has frequently shared his thoughts on the ongoing doping controversies in tennis. When asked about his views on Kyrgios' statements, the current World No. 33 responded:

“If you took all of Nick's words, tried to analyze them and draw conclusions, you could go crazy. I probably don’t agree.”

Nick Kyrgios, Alexander Bublik, Jannik Sinner & Iga Swiatek to play in Australian Open 2025

Nick Kyrgios, Alexander Bublik, Jannik Sinner, and Iga Swiatek are set to compete in the 2025 Australian Open, scheduled from January 12 to January 26. While Swiatek and Kyrgios have already begun their 2025 campaigns, Sinner and Bublik will make their season debuts at the tournament.

Kyrgios kicked off his 2025 season at the Brisbane International, where he faced Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard on December 30, 2024, losing in a closely contested match with a score of 6-7(2), 7-6(4), 6-7(3). He also teamed up with Novak Djokovic to play doubles but the duo was eliminated in the Round of 16.

Meanwhile, Swiatek participated in the United Cup in Sydney, winning all four qualifiers before falling to USA’s Coco Gauff in the final, hence, losing the title.
