Alexander Zverev recently opened up about the major change he has made to his team in pursuit of winning his first Grand Slam title. The German's best results at the Grand Slam level have been finishing as the runner-up at the 2020 US Open and the 2024 French Open.

This year, Zverev had a strong showing at Grand Slam tournaments but fell short of claiming a title. At the Australian Open, he reached the semifinals before being defeated by eventual runner-up Daniil Medvedev. During the French Open, the World No. 2 made it to the final and put up a valiant fight, but ultimately lost the title to Carlos Alcaraz, who secured his first title at Roland Garros and his third Grand Slam overall.

At the Wimbledon Championships, the German advanced to the fourth round but was defeated by Taylor Fritz. He then progressed to the quarterfinals at the US Open before once again losing to eventual runner-up Fritz.

Zverev is currently in Australia representing Germany at the 2025 United Cup. During a press conference at the tournament, he shared details of a change he has implemented to enhance his chances of securing his maiden Grand Slam title

The 27-year old disclosed that he has re-hired fitness coach Jez Green. Green, who previously trained Andy Murray, trained the German from 2013 until their split in 2021.

"I'm back with Jez Green, I worked with him for seven years, and we kind of had a split for three years, and we're back together. So, for me the physical aspect probably was the most important of the off-season for sure. I feel like I've lost one or two matches last year because I got tired, which I don't want to happen this year," Alexander Zverev said.

Zverev pointed out two "big matches" from 2024, the semifinal match against Daniil Medvedev at the Australian Open and the final against Carlos Alcaraz at the French Open, as instances where fatigue impacted his performance.

"They were big matches. They were maybe the Australian Open with Daniil, where I was a bit sick, actually, I was playing with fever there, and then there was at the French Open with Carlos where I got tired. And again, I don't want that to happen again, so, yeah, a lot of hard work on that aspect. I think the tennis will maybe take longer time to adjust this year than it was maybe last year," he added.

Alexander Zverev wrapped up his 2024 season with two titles to his name, the Italian Open and the Paris Masters. He also finished the year as the World No. 2.

Alexander Zverev will have his sights set on winning his maiden Grand Slam at the 2025 Australian Open which is scheduled to take place from January 12 to January 26, 2025. His previous best performances at the Melbourne major include reaching the semifinals in 2020 and 2024.

In 2020, Zverev was seeded seventh at the Australian Open and kicked off his campaign with victories over Marco Cecchinato in the first round and Egor Gerasimov in the second round. He then went on to defeat Fernando Verdasco and 17th seed Andrey Rublev in the third and fourth rounds, respectively.

In the quarterfinals, the 27-year old registered a win over 15th seed Stan Wawrinka, but his journey came to an end in the semifinals when he was defeated by fifth seed and eventual runner-up Dominic Thiem.

At the 2024 Australian Open, Alexander Zverev was seeded sixth and he defeated compatriot Dominik Koepfer, qualifier Lukas Klein, Alex Michelsen, and 19th seed Cameron Norrie in the first four rounds. He then went on to defeat second seed Carlos Alcaraz in the quarterfinals before falling to eventual runner-up Daniil Medvedev in the semifinals.
