Alexander Zverev’s girlfriend Sophia Thomalla believes she’s been better than Roger Federer during her special visit to Australia's Rottnest Island. The German television presenter amusingly warned her fans and followers “never” to rank her below the Swiss legend when it comes to their quokka selfies.
Zverev is presently in Perth, Australia, representing defending champions Germany at the 2025 United Cup. The World No. 2 is accompanied by his girlfriend of three years, Thomalla. Ahead of his campaign, Alexander Zverev and his partner visited the famed Rottnest Island, known for small macropods called “quokkas.” Besides interacting with the rare species, the couple also took a walk on the beach.
Sophia Thomalla called it the “Best day EVER” and shared the couple’s selfies with a quokka. On December 31, the presenter shared a few more pictures, this time featuring just her with a happy-looking quokka. In one of the images, the animal also seemed to give her a peck on the cheek.
Taking selfies with quokkas has been a bucket-list item among tourists in recent times. Interestingly, visitors seldom acquire picture-perfect selfies. Thus, delighted by how her selfies turned out, Alexander Zverev’s girlfriend claimed that her pictures were even better than the ones Roger Federer captured during his visit.
"Never say again that Roger Federer had better Quokka photos than me," she teased on Instagram.
Federer famously clicked selfies with a quokka in 2017. Rafael Nadal followed suit in 2020, while Novak Djokovic crossed it off his bucket list in 2023. Several other players joined the trio in showing off their pictures, with the tennis community collectively reaching the verdict that Roger Federer’s selfies were the best.
