Twenty-four-time Major champion Novak Djokovic will lock horns with World No. 2 Alexander Zverev in the semifinals of the Australian Open 2025 on Friday, January 24. The Serb knocked out Nishesh Basavareddy, Jaime Faria, Tomas Machac, and Jiri Lehecka to reach the quarterfinals, his 61st at the Majors.

Djokovic took on reigning French Open and Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz for a spot in the semifinals. He overcame a one-set deficit to beat his younger adversary 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-4, and progress to his milestone 50th semifinal at the Majors.

Zverev secured wins over Lucas Pouille, Pedro Martinez, Jacob Fearnley, and Ugo Humbert to book his place in the quarterfinals, where he faced 12th seed Tommy Paul. The German got the job done in four sets to secure a 7-6 (1), 7-6 (0), 2-6, 6-1 win and advance to his ninth Major semifinal, and his third Down Under.

Djokovic leads Zverev 8-4 in the head-to-head. The former beat the latter in straight sets at the Cincinnati Open 2023, their most recent encounter. Each player has alternated between a win in their last five matches, so if the pattern continues, then this will be the German's time to shine.

However, Zverev has never beaten the 37-year-old at the Majors. He has lost all three of their prior meetings that took place at this level, including one at the Australian Open 2021. Furthermore, Djokovic has a 10-1 record in the semifinals at the Melbourne Major, with Jannik Sinner being the only player to beat him at this stage. He achieved the feat en route to the title last year.

Djokovic is two wins away from scripting history by winning his record 25th Major title. Zverev, meanwhile, is eager to finally win his maiden Major title. Both players are in great form heading into this match, so this one promises to be an exciting showdown. On that note, here are the details on how to keep up with their upcoming contest:
