In the quarterfinals, Sinner outclassed the eighth seed, Alex de Minaur, with a dominant performance that resulted in a 6-3, 6-2, 6-1 win. He maintained his momentum in the semifinals, defeating 21st seed Ben Shelton 7-6(2), 6-2, 6-2 to secure his spot in the final.

In the championship match, Jannik Sinner faced off against the second seed, Alexander Zverev and defeated him with a score of 6-3, 7-6(4), 6-3 to win the 2025 Australian Open as well as claim his third Grand Slam title, overall.

During the post match trophy presentation ceremony at the 2025 Australian Open, Alexander Zverev praised Jannik Sinner for securing the Grand Slam title.

Zverev expressed his admiration for Sinner, calling him the "best player" in the world and asserting that no one else 'deserved' the trophy more.

“First of all, congratulations to Jannik [Sinner]. You more than deserve it . You're the best player in the world by far . You really deserve it . Congrats to your team as well . You've done all the right things . You've done all the work and yeah, there's nobody that deserves this trophy more," Zverev said.

Before their clash in the final of the 2025 Australian Open, Alexander Zverev and Jannik Sinner had faced off six times on the ATP Tour, with the German emerging victorious in four of those encounters.

Their last meeting before the one in Melbourne, took place in the semifinals of the 2024 Cincinnati Open, where Jannik Sinner triumphed with a score of 7-6(9), 5-7, 7-6(4). He then went on to defeat Frances Tiafoe in the final to claim the title.
