Coco Gauff addressing her haters after clinching the 2024 WTA Finals in Riyadh has gotten negative reactions from some tennis fans. Some felt that the American's constant need to respond to her haters was "childish."

Seeded third, Gauff kicked off her campaign with a resounding win against compatriot Jessica Pegula and followed it up by decimating Iga Swiatek. However, her straight-sets defeat to Barbora Krejcikova meant that she ended up second in the Orange group. She then defeated top seed Aryna Sabalenka in straight sets to reach the final.

The 20-year-old came back from a set down to defeat Zheng Qinwen 3-6, 6-4, 7-6(2) to win the year-end WTA Finals.

Gauff, who sometimes likes to address her haters following a triumphant performance, took to X (formerly Twitter) to quip:

"lol safe to say I beat the bad season allegations."

However, some fans didn't enjoy the American's antics. One fan called the World No. 3 childish and said that she should learn how to deal with her haters from Swiatek and Sabalenka.

"Always childish in posting something. Learn something from Iga and Saba in this context. I mean it's not always necessary to mention allegations. I hope you improve in that too. Just a sincere suggestion and obedient opinion. Btw congratulations on the title," the fan said.

Another fan questioned why the WTA Finals winner had to be so negative.

"why you always so negative? you have so many fans and you are talented, celebrate it sometimes gurl..," the fan questioned.

Here are some other reactions from the fans.

"You often address yourself to critics/detractors. While I understand that you have good reason to do so, I find it unnecessary, because no one of any consequence was ever liked by everyone. Wishing you continued success," a fan said.
"Rigging the 2-0 loss against Barbora such that Iga didn’t qualify to the semis was nasty business. You wasn’t beating her if you met her again and you knew that," a fan felt.
"Compared to who? You had a better season than @leylahfernandez for sure! And lots of other fairly mid players who have never won or competed at a Grand Slam Final. How did your 2024 compare to your peers in the top 10 of the WTA tho? Fellow Grand Slam champions. Or would you rather move the goal post and avoid chatting about that?" a fan opined about Coco Gauff's performances.
"The fact that you feel the need to mention that means those comments are still affecting you. Do people remember who won WTA Finals? Given the expectations, not sure you can say it's a great season either," a fan thought.

However, in another post, Coco Gauff said that although she addressed her haters, this win was for her fans.

In her very next post on X, Coco Gauff thanked her fans for sticking by her side and showed her gratitude towards them. She joked how some of her fans were also 'petty' like her, so they would have also enjoyed silencing the haters.

"muah. Also, I know tend to focus on “doubters/haters” but this one is really for all of my supporters! Ya’ll held it down for me win or lose! I thank you for that. I see you and I appreciate you. And I know some of you are a little bit petty like me so it does feel nice to silence them for a bit," Coco Gauff posted.

With her stellar campaign, Gauff has brought her 2024 season to a close with an impressive 52-16 win/loss record. She also talked about how she was planning to spend her WTA Finals prize money.
