Novak Djokovic has reacted to Nick Kyrgios showcasing a signed frame featuring both of them from his video podcast show Good Trouble. He was a guest on the show during the 2024 Australian Open back in January. The show is produced by Naomi Osaka’s media company, Hana Kuma, which she co-founded with her agent Stuart Duguid.
According to the bio of the podcast's YouTube channel, the show's objective is to highlight the personal journeys of individuals making waves by doing things on their terms.
The episode featuring Novak Djokovic as a guest has since garnered over 350,000 views on YouTube. The court was set up to resemble the show’s original setting, with the lights illuminating the seating area of the stadium turned off.
On Friday, Kyrgios shared an Instagram story featuring a framed poster from the podcast. The poster included a collage of Djokovic and Kyrgios along with the serb's signature, encased in glass. In the video Kyrgios said
“This is dope Kyrgios, Djokovic; Good Trouble, Got her frames, memories, that's crazy”
Hours after Kyrgios posted the story, the Serb reposted the video and humorously responded to the Aussie, saying:
“Always good trouble with you”
The former World No.1 was in pursuit of a historic 25th Grand Slam title; however, his run was halted by eventual champion Jannik Sinner in the semifinal.
Nick Kyrgios believes Novak Djokovic's ability to adapt makes him the best athlete in the world
Back in January 2024, during an episode of Trevor Noah's podcast What Now? with Trevor Noah, Kyrgios praised Novak Djokovic as the best athlete for his unmatched ability to adapt to different time zones, diets, and schedules worldwide, while consistently performing at the highest level.
"I think Novak is the best athlete in the world because his ability to adapt is like no other," Kyrgios said (at 25:13). "Every other athlete in the world knows when they're going to start, they know when they're going to finish. They know how many games are going to be played."
"Whereas Novak, he’s going to go to Asia, different time zone, different food, different diet, and then he goes to Europe and then different food again, different time zone, doesn’t know when he’s going to play and then America and then Australia. How does this guy adapt to every single scenario, put in front of him and still come out the best? It’s incredible," Kyrgios added.
On the ATP Tour, Kyrgios currently leads the head-to-head against Djokovic 2-1. Their last encounter was in the final of the 2022 Wimbledon Championships. Kyrgios has only played one match in nearly two years due to knee and wrist injuries that required surgery. While the Aussie has shown promising signs of recovery, he has yet to announce when he will officially return to the ATP Tour.
