Amanda Anisimova opted for the ultimate comfort fit on the eve of her Australian Open 2025 second-round clash against Emma Raducanu.
The American was pictured with a cozy black hoodie, grey sweatpants, and black shoes as she embraced comfort ahead of what promises to be a cracker of a contest against Raducanu.
Anisimova’s good friend and tennis player Priscilla Hon, who also happens to be Raducanu’s friend, shared the picture on her Instagram story with the caption:
“Comfort levels are high.”
Amanda Anisimova, who reached the fourth round of the Australian Open last year, reposted it with a caption that read:
“Gotta stay comfy IDC Dafuq.”
Anisimova and Raducanu have never played each other in a tournament before and this will be their first match. Interestingly, they both come into this contest in contrasting fashion.
Anisimova got her Australian Open campaign off to a smooth start as she pocketed a 6-2, 6-3 win against Argentina’s Maria Carle, while Raducanu had it tough. She made a shocking 15 double faults as she labored to a 7-6 (4), 7-6 (2) win over Ekaterina Alexandrova.

Anisimova and Raducanu are good friends and have even doubled up as each other’s hitting partners. It’s safe to say that they know each other’s games pretty well. In a press conference ahead of their clash, Anisimova said practicing with Emma Raducanu has helped her understand the Brit’s playing style.
"I've definitely practiced with her quite a few times so that's the only time I've seen her or played against her because I've never played her in a match. I don't think practicing with her changes the outcome. Practicing with her gives me more of an idea of how she plays," said Anisimova.
The 22-year-old American added that she is looking forward to the “battle” against her friend.
"I've never played her before but she's obviously a great player; a very intelligent player. I'm sure it'll be a very tough match. I'm looking forward to it. She's a friend of mine, so it will be interesting. I'm sure we will give it our all, and I'm looking forward to the battle,” she mentioned [4:33 onwards].
Amanda Anisimova and Raducanu, who are around the same age, had injury concerns coming into the year’s first Grand Slam. Anisimova, 23, withdrew from the quarterfinal of the Hobart Open on January 9 after catching a cold, while Raducanu pulled out of the ASB Classic in Auckland after injuring her back.
The duo will hope to put on a show for the fans at the Show Court Arena on Thursday morning as Anisimova aims to break her fourth-round jinx at the Australian Open and Raducanu looks to make her maiden third-round appearance at the Melbourne Major.
