How Amanda Anisimova fared at the ASB Classic last year
Amanda Anisimova made her return from a long break from tennis at the 2024 ASB Classic last year. Ahead of the event's kick-off, she sat down with the WTA Insider for a chat where she opened up about the struggles that ultimately led to her hiatus
"It was just nice to take a break from the chaotic lifestyle of a tennis player and reset as a human," Anisimova said. "I think that break and having more than two weeks off for the first time in my life was just very refreshing. I gained a lot of energy back in myself and happiness."
She also mentioned how valuable the break was.
"I slowed my life down and that's something that I really needed."
Amanda Anisimova had a strong return to tennis with a resounding 7-5, 6-4 win over veteran Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. However, she was decimated 0-6, 1-6 by fifth seed Marie Bouzkova in the very next round.
