Ana Ivanovic and her husband, Bastian Schweinsteiger, recently returned to the tennis court and shared a glimpse of their time. While Ivanovic retired from tennis in 2016 to focus on her family, Schweinsteiger retired from football in 2019.
Ivanovic had numerous achievements under her name during her illustrious career. The Serb has won 15 singles titles, including the 2008 French Open, and was also a finalist at the Australian Open in the same year. Known for her attacking style of play, Ivanovic also remained at the top of the WTA rankings for 12 weeks.
Schweinsteiger, meanwhile, is a German former footballer who was part of the 2014 FIFA World Cup-winning team. He won the FA Cup with Manchester United in the 2015-16 season and the Champions League with Bayern Munich in the 2012-13 edition of the marquee event. The 39-year-old has also won eight Bundesliga titles with Bayern Munich.
Ivanovic and Schweinsteiger started dating in 2014 and got married two years later in a romantic ceremony in Venice. The couple has three sons- Luca, Leon, and a third son who was born in May last year.
The former World No. 1 recently shared a picture on Instagram featuring herself and Schweinsteiger. The sports power couple can be seen posing near the net, holding their tennis rackets.
"Tennis anyone?" Ana Ivanovic wrote in the captions.
Besides his expertise in football, Schweinsteiger is also fond of playing tennis. Last year, the German playfully warned his wife on her birthday about his improving tennis skills.
Ana Ivanovic and Bastian Schweinsteiger have kept their fondness for numerous sports alive post-retirement
Even after retirement, Ana Ivanovic and Schweinsteiger often try their hand at tennis and golf. In a previous interview with Olympics.com, Ivanovic said that her husband remains competitive, despite her making him struggle for points. The 36-year-old added that she occasionally lets the German win some points if he deserves those.
“He’s very competitive and he’s still trying super hard. We play every game that he gets 30-love and he can maybe manage to get a game or two but I sometimes make him work hard for points and sometimes let him win a game when he deserves it,” Ana Ivanovic said.
The couple also frequently goes on golfing outings and shared a glimpse of one earlier this year. As per Ivanovic's prior disclosure, Schweinsteiger is her "favorite golf buddy".
"Enjoying time with my favorite golf buddy⛳️," the Serb wrote on Instagram.
In addition to tennis and golf, the couple also enjoys skiing together. They shared glimpses of their snowy adventures earlier in January.
