Ana Ivanovic got the competitive juices flowing as she aimed at catching up with her husband Bastian Schweinsteiger during her recent golf outing.
Ever since her calling time on professional career in 2016, Ivanovic has been enjoying her retirement life, traveling the world with her husband - former German footballer Schweinsteiger, managing her cosmetics business, and partaking in other activities outside of tennis - the former World No. 1 enjoys skiing and often hits the slopes with her partner.
Schweinsteiger, who represented Bayern Munich for 17 seasons and was part of the 2014 FIFA World Cup winning squad, is also an avid golfer. The parents-of-three thus frequently go on golfing dates, too.
During her recent outing on Friday, April 26, Ana Ivanovic said that she was working on her handicap so as to be on par with Bastian Schweinsteiger, who is her 'favorite golf buddy' as per her previous admission.
"Fridays are for golfing," she wrote on her Instagram story.
"Working on my handicap to keep up with @bastianschweinsteiger," Ana Ivanovic added.
It is worth noting that Schweinsteiger recently took over from the late German football icon Franz Beckenbauer as patron of a golf charity event. The tournament will be held at the Golf Resort Bad Griesbach from July 19-21.
In a recent social media post, the 39-year-old revealed that he’d started training for the anticipated event.
"Training for the Bastian Schweinsteiger Cup in July," he ecstatically said on Instagram.
Ana Ivanovic and husband Bastian Schweinsteiger are competitive when it comes to tennis as well
Apart from their mutual liking for golf and skiing, Ana Ivanovic’s husband Bastian Schweinsteiger also enjoys playing tennis with the Serbian icon.
During her appearance on the Olympics Channel podcast in 2022, the former World No. 1 shared hilarious details of their tennis duels.
"He's very competitive and he’s still trying super hard," Ivanovic said.
"We play every game that he gets 30-love and he can maybe manage to get a game or two but I sometimes make him work hard for points and sometimes let him win a game when he deserves it," she joked.
On her birthday in November last year, Schweinsteiger jokingly warned Ivanovic of his growing prowess in tennis.
"My love! Happy birthday. Watch out! I think this is maybe gonna happen this year, I will beat you in tennis. Enjoy the last moments before it happens," the ex-footballer teased on Instagram.
Despite the challenge though, the 2008 French Open champion remained unfazed.
"Don’t get your hopes up, beating me in tennis will take a few more years…" she joked in response.
