Andre Agassi on Carlos Alcaraz: "Love his game on the move"

Andre Agassi talked about Carlos Alcaraz's game in an interview with Tennis Majors. He detailed the aspects of the Spaniard's game he loved, as well as the aspects he should improve upon. The American said that he loves Alcaraz's pace and his game on the move.

“I really love his game on the move, when he’s in flight, the dynamics and his ability to use the geometry and the pace he can inject," Agassi said.

However, the eight-time Grand Slam champion wants him to improve his static game. Agassi has observed that he gets set very early as he does not know where to channel his energy.

"I do get a little concerned for him sometimes when he’s on the static side. When his feet don’t have to move as much sometimes he doesn’t know where to direct that energy and he gets set a little too early, not quite the same conviction on his shots when he can be in control of the point,” Agassi added.

The American has also implored the young Spaniard to discover a tool that he would rely on in big moments, adding that all legends of the sport figure out what their game is built on.

“All greats figure out what their game is built on and they rely on that in the biggest moments. I still question if Carlos has figured out what he’s going to rely on to create that consistent pressure for his opponent that gives him the highest percentage of locking something down. He might serve, volley he might his first ball drop, he can do all of it,” he said.

Andre Agassi retired from tennis in 2006 after winning eight Grand Slams, including four at the Australian Open, one each at the French Open and Wimbledon, and two at the US Open.
