Marcos Giron attributed his title win at the 2024 Hall of Fame Open in Newport to the guidance of Andre Agassi. Giron stated that Agassi's "different perspective" of tennis played a crucial role in helping him secure his maiden ATP Tour title.

Giron was seeded second at the ATP 250 grasscourt event in Newport and kicked off his campaign in the second round after receiving a bye in the first round. He faced a tough challenge in his opening match against Benoit Paire but ultimately prevailed 4-6, 7-5, 6-4 and then overcame qualifier Alex Bolt 6-4, 6-1 in the quarterfinals.

In the semifinals, Giron faced off against fourth seed and compatriot Christopher Eubanks, emerging victorious with a hard-fought 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 win. He then triumphed over third seed and countryman Alex Michelsen 6-7(4), 6-3, 7-5 in two hours and 37 minutes to win the 2024 Hall of Fame Open, his first ATP Tour title.

While talking to the press, Marcos Giron talked about the role that eight-time Grand Slam champion Andre Agassi has played in his career. Giron recalled a transformative three-day trip to Agassi's home in Las Vegas, where the former World No.1 had provided invaluable guidance and support and has since been "tremendously kind" to him.

The World No.38 said that the trip to Las Vegas and meeting Agassi changed his life as well as changed his 'vision' of tennis. He said that everything has been different for him since having the former World No.1 as a guide.

“Since 2020, he has been tremendously kind to me, he always took his time. That three-day trip to Las Vegas changed my life, I can assure you, at least it changed my vision of the game. That trip extended my career for a few years, everything has been different since I have had him as a guide, with his knowledge and his vision,” Marcos Giron said (via Punto de Break).

Marcos Giron stated that Andre Agassi has a "different perspective" of tennis than the others. He also called the eight-time Grand Slam champion a 'super kind and insightful person.'

“Andre sees tennis from a totally different perspective than the others, that's why we have maintained communication, apart from the fact that he is a super kind and insightful person,” he added.

Marcos Giron: “Andre Agassi helped me to dominate my opponents, to be a real threat”

Marcos Giron said that Andre Agassi taught him to take on more 'opportunities to be aggressive' and also helped him improve his backhand.

“The most important thing he saw in my game is that I wasn’t looking for enough opportunities to be aggressive, that was the most crucial thing to change. Then he also helped me a lot with my backhand… honestly, he helped me a lot with my backhand!” Marcos Giron said (via Punto de Break).

Giron also stated that Agassi helped him to understand how to "dominate" his opponents and be a "threat" to them.

“I would say that before I was winning a lot of matches by pure heart, matches with a lot of emotional hustle and other aspects. Andre helped me to move beyond that aspect, he helped me to dominate my opponents, to be a real threat,” he added.

Earlier this year, Marcos Giron had reached the final of the Dallas Open only to lose to compatriot Tommy Paul 7-6(3), 5-7, 6-3, who clinched his second ATP Tour title and first since winning the 2021 Stockholm Open.
