Tennis legends Roger Federer, Serena Williams, and Andre Agassi received a shoutout for their tennis fashion influence from Taylor Fritz's girlfriend Morgan Riddle. Federer, Williams, and Agassi no longer compete professionally but continue to enjoy great fanfare, courtesy of their legendary tennis careers.
Among the three, Agassi was the earliest to take up the racket sport professionally, winning eight Grand Slam titles between 1986 and 2006. Federer emerged on the ATP circuit in 1998 and claimed a staggering 20 majors till 2022. Williams won 23 singles Grand Slam titles from 1995-2022.
All three players have also notably made headlines for their fashion choices at times, with Agassi famously skipping Wimbledon from 1988-1990 due to restrictions on wearing anything but white. Among many memorable outfits, Federer took over the New York City by donning the all-black 'Darth Federer' kit, drawing inspiration from Star Wars' antagonist Darth Vader, at the 2007 US Open.
Williams redefined on-court fashion by taking on her opponents in iconic outfits, including the catsuit-like kit at the 2018 French Open.
Talking to Liv Perez on a recent episode of Let's Get Dressed podcast, Fritz's girlfriend Riddle, who's grown as a fashion influencer on social media in recent times, praised the former players for their influence on tennis fashion.
"I think it’s always been influential in fashion actually. I mean, if you look back at the big on-court moments like Serena Williams had, Andre Agassi had, you know, he had a look on the tennis court. [Roger] Federer would always come out in these sweater vests, like he would make custom looks for himself," Taylor Fritz's partner said (at 37:07).
She continued:
"It’s always been really prevalent in the sport for the players. And now, I think, it’s stretched more into the spectator fashion in the last couple of years. But I think ‘tennis and fashion’ on the court has been a really big thing."
"I dress much more modest now" - Taylor Fritz's girflriend Morgan Riddle
Morgan Riddle has been with Taylor Fritz, the World No. 6, since 2020. They began dating during the Covid-19 pandemic, a period during which traveling on the tours came with several restrictions.
In the same conversation on the Let's Get Dressed podcast, Riddle suggested that her fashion has evolved over the years, with aging and exploring style from different parts of the world. Riddle said:
"Maybe in ways like the influence of the places that I’ve gone to for sure you know, like, I have a broader view. I think that a lot of it is from aging. I started traveling when I was 22, I’m 27 now. I dress much more modest now."
"A lot of has come from the tennis influence, I think, just be able to shop around the world, discover these UK-based brands, I never wore Australian brands until like traveling to Australia for Australian Open."
As of now, Riddle boasts of more than 406,000 followers on Instagram and has endorsed various brands, including Wilson, and has appeared on the Vogue Magazine as well.
