Andre Agassi has recently spread the word about the much-anticipated Pickleball Slam 3, set to take place on February 16, 2025, at the Michelob ULTRA Arena at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. This exciting event will be broadcast live on ESPN, featuring a star-studded lineup of tennis stars competing in arguably one of the fastest-growing sports in America for a $1 million cash purse.
Having won the Pickleball Slam in 2023 and 2024, Andre Agassi shared the news about the event on his Instagram account on September 27, accompanied by a trophy emoji.
The upcoming Pickleball Slam 3 is particularly noteworthy as it will feature defending champion Andre Agassi and his wife, fellow tennis legend Steffi Graf.
Joining them will be tennis Hall of Famer Andy Roddick and former World No. 5, Eugenie Bouchard. The winning team will not only take home the substantial cash prize but also earn an automatic spot to defend their title at the next Slam series event.
Agassi expressed his excitement about getting back on the pickleball court to defend his title alongside his wife. In a playful tone, the American remarked that he "felt bad" for their opponents, Roddick and Bouchard. He said (as quoted by Next TV):
"I can’t wait to return with Steffi and defend our title in February at Slam 3. It’s an incredible opportunity to play in my hometown of Las Vegas, where the stakes are high, and the energy is electric. In this city, the odds are always in our favor, and I almost feel a little sorry for Andy and Genie," Agassi said.
Andre Agassi discussed taking caution while playing pickleball with wife Steffi Graf
Andre Agassi opened up about the pros and cons of playing pickleball with his wife Steffi Graf. In November 2023, Agassi appeared on the "Pat McAfee Show" to promote his upcoming Pickleball Slam doubles match against John McEnroe and Maria Sharapova.
The American mentioned that he has been training for the high-profile match with Graf and humorously noted that their competitive nature almost jeopardized their relationship.
"I've been playing a lot. And I've been playing with him on my mind, but I've been playing with my wife too. Which, by the way, can add a great deal to a relationship or ruin it! So you gotta be careful with that," Agassi said (at 02:27:00).
In the inaugural edition of the Pickleball Slam in 2023, Agassi teamed up with Andy Roddick to defeat John McEnroe and Michael Chang. In 2024, Agassi partnered with Graf, and together they triumphed over Maria Sharapova and McEnroe to claim the title once again.
