Currently ranked World No. 9, Rublev stepped in for 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic at the year-end championships. Although Djokovic had qualified for the 2024 ATP Finals, the Serb announced on Instagram that he was withdrawing due to an injury.
“It's quite an honor to qualify for the @nittoatpfinals in Turin. I was really looking forward to being there, but due to ongoing injury I won't be playing next week. Apologies to those who were planning to see me. Wishing all the players a great tournament. See you soon!” he wrote.
Ahead of his campaign in Turin, a TikTok video featuring a guy, seemingly Andrey Rublev surfaced on X (formerly Twitter). In the clip, he could be seen receiving his food delivery with his face covered under his hoodie.

"I feel more relaxed and that’s the best": Andrey Rublev ahead of the ATP Finals
Speaking to the media ahead of his campaign in Turin, Andrey Rublev reflected on his past performances, noting that only his 2022 semifinal run stood out, while the others were more challenging. The Russian added that he hopes to learn from those experiences and is adopting a more relaxed approach this year.
"In terms of results, only one year [in Turin] when I made the semi-finals [in 2022] was a great week, the rest were tougher. But I hope I learn something out of these years. We’ll see. At least I’m trying to do a different approach this year. At least I feel more relaxed and that’s the best," Rublev said (via ATP).
Andrey Rublev, who is placed in the John Newcombe Group, will start his ATP Finals campaign against Alexander Zverev on November 11. This will be their tenth encounter on tour and the first meeting this year, with the German leading 6-3 in their head-to-head.
