Andy Murray's mother, Judy Murray, recently took a dig at Emma Raducanu for withdrawing from the mixed doubles to end her son's Wimbledon career sooner than expected. Raducanu and Murray were scheduled to play their second round mixed doubles match against Marcelo Arevalo and Shuai Zhang.

Raducanu, the 2021 U.S. Open champion, pulled out of the highly-anticipated match citing 'stiffness in her right wrist' as the reason. She said that she was looking forward to playing with Murray and was disappointed to withdraw.

“Unfortunately I woke up with some stiffness in my right wrist this morning so therefore I have decided to make the very tough decision to withdraw from the mixed doubles tonight. I’m disappointed as I was really looking forward to playing with Andy but got to take care,” she said in a statement.

Andy Murray's mother, Judy, seemingly took a dig at the 21-year-old, saying that she was astonished to see Raducanu withdraw. She expressed her views in response to a tweet by presenter Marcus Buckland.

"Astonishing news that Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from her mixed doubles match with Andy Murray. She’s citing soreness in her right wrist. It means Murray has played his last match at Wimbledon. Oh dear!" wrote Buckland.

To this, Judy Murray replied:

"Yes, astonishing."

With this withdrawal, Murray has played his last match at SW19, as Wimbledon does not allow repairing.

Murray was given an emotional farewell ceremony, that saw legendary presenter Sue Barker come out of retirement. To honor him, Martina Navratilova, John McEnroe, Novak Djokovic, Iga Swiatek, Holger Rune, Jack Draper, and other greats of the game from the past, present, and future gathered on Centre Court.

Andy Murray talked about what he was most proud of during his career in the press conference after his last match at Wimbledon. He claimed that despite going through many highs and lows during his career, he approached the game every day with the same commitment and work ethic.

"I did a really good job of, during my career, was that regardless of the highs and lows whether it was winning tournaments or having difficult losses or an operation or a setback, I was able to treat the next day like, I always came in to work and with the same dedication and work ethic and passion like I had the day before regardless of the highs and lows that the sport has thrown at me," he said.

Murray said he gave his best effort every time he stepped on court.

"I certainly didn’t always get it right like on the match days, I was always not perfect by any stretch but I did always come to work and put in a good day. I gave my best effort and that’s what I am proud of. It is for other people to decide what my legacy would be," he added.

Andy Murray will next be seen playing at the upcoming Paris Olympics.
