Rafael Nadal would be teaming up with the recently crowned Channel Slam conqueror, Carlos Alcaraz, to form a dream pairing. Andy Roddick has given a name to Nadal and Alcaraz's all-Spanish pair ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
A fan on X (formerly Twitter) asked what the pairing of Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz should be named to which Andy Roddick responded:
"Easy. Rafaraz."
Nadal also has other famous fan-given names for his other pairings such as 'Fedal' - with Roger Federer and 'Ruudal' - with Casper Ruud.
The two Spaniards are set to compete individually in the singles and pair up for the doubles. Both Spaniards have touched down in Paris and have begun practicing for the once-in-a-four-year event.
Nadal was unsure of his participation at the Olympics this year due to constant struggles with injuries. However, Alcaraz had expressed his desire to play doubles with his idol at the prestigious event early on. The World No. 3 said that if possible, he would love to team up with the young Spaniard. Now, the two will be part of the same team competing in the doubles competition at the 2024 Olympics.
"I'm convinced Carlos Alcaraz will be at a great level" - Rafael Nadal exudes confidence in Spaniard after his back-to-back Grand Slam triumphs
During a press conference at the Nordea Open, Rafael Nadal shared his excitement over representing Spain at the Olympics. The two-time Gold medalist called it the most important event in sports and hoped to find the energy to train properly.
"I'm really looking forward to being part of the Olympic team and representing Spain. This is the most important event in sport, I hope I can find the energy I need and do good training," he said [via Punto de Break]."
Rafael Nadal was confident after his campaign in Bastad that he could play good tennis in singles and could incorporate that level in doubles as well. He also exuded confidence in Carlos Alcaraz, stating that his level is going to be great as a result of his recent Grand Slam success.
"I know that if I can play good tennis on an individual level, I'll do well in doubles too, but I have to analyze what happened this week and work hard. I'm convinced that Carlos Alcaraz will be at a great level because he's coming in with confidence. We'll train together this week," he added.
The duo will be joined by Pedro Martinez, Jaume Munar, Pablo Carreno Busta, and Marcel Granollers to form the men's tennis team at the Olympics.
