Andy Roddick's wife Brooklyn Decker graced Sports Illustrated Swimsuit's 60th anniversary cover. Decker also remembered her early days in the magazine and showed gratitude towards them.
The magazine had a special edition to commemorate their 60th anniversary and brought back the divas who graced the covers in the past. Among these stars were the likes of Chrissy Teigen, Kate Upton, Martha Stewart, Megan Rapinoe, Winnie Harlow, Nina Agdal, and many other Legends.
Decker was also featured among the Brand Legends, as called by the magazines, and took to Instagram to share a photo from the magazine. She also reminisced about one of her photos from her early days, when she was 18, and expressed her gratitude towards the magazine.
"Almost 20 years between these two images. 37 years old in the first, in the second photo I was just 18. @si_swimsuit has given me so much."
Decker also shared some tidbits about the magazine's workings mentioning how all the decisions were taken by women, which, according to her, was a big reason why everyone remembered everything about the photos. She also noted how the magazine, rather than focusing on the body or face, focused on the woman and her story.
"Fun fact: the SI swimsuit issue, since the very beginning in 1964 has always been edited by a woman. Casting, locations, styling, all of it selected by women, and I think that’s a big reason why we remember issues, models, images—"
"It’s about so much more than just a face or body: it’s about who she is, where she’s from, what she’s doing with her life, what story she wants to tell. 60 years of story telling. What an absolute triumph," Andy Roddick's wife said.
Andy Roddick fell for Brooklyn Decker after watching her hosting a show for Sports Illustrated
Sports Illustrated not only played a huge role in Brooklyn Decker's professional career but also her personal career as it helped her meet her husband Andy Roddick.
Decker said that Roddick had tried to get in touch with her after watching her host a show about football on Sports Illustrated. However, she ignored his advances initially and found the situation shady.
"We met, it's a terrible story. I was hosting a show about football on Sports Illustrated and he watched it every week. He [Andy Roddick] got his attorney to call my agent at the time and I thought it was very shady as one would, and I didn't call him back for five months," Decker said to Tennis Channel in 2017.
The American actress decided to give Roddick a call after she moved to New York in 2007 as she was new to the place. The American said she watched one of Roddick's press-conference from the 2007 Australian Open which impressed her and she found the former World No. 1 charming.
"I googled him [Andy Roddick] and watched his press conference from the 07' Australian Open, where he was just super dry and sarcastic. I thought 'Well that's pretty funny, looks like a charmer', and I called him back and we've been together ever since," she said.
Andy Roddick and Brooklyn Decker married in 2009 and the couple also has two children.
