Jelena Ostapenko appeared to be enjoying her time out from the grueling routine of the WTA tour during the offseason. She recently exited the doubles at the WTA Finals in a round-robin group stage with on-court partner Lyudmyla Kichenok.
Ostapenko and Kichenok lifted their maiden doubles Grand Slam trophy at the 2024 US Open. They were the runner-ups at the Australian Open doubles, bested by reigning champions Suwei Hsieh and Elise Mertens.
The duo also won the Eastbourne International and Brisbane International doubles this season. In singles, Ostapenko added two feathers to her cap - the Linz Open and the Adelaide International titles.
Ostapenko is enjoying her hard-earned vacation with her boyfriend in the Maldives. She took to Instagram to share a story containing a picture of her in blue beachwear with white slip-ons. She captioned it:
"Another day in paradise."
In another picture, the Latvian could be seen jet skiing in the Indian Ocean waters.
"Had a great ride," wrote Ostapenko.
Ostapenko also posted a couple-selfie and thanked the Hilton Hotel in Maldives for their hospitality with the caption:
"Thanks @suboceanic.hiltonmaldives for making our stay even more fun."
As per Ostapenko's social media updates, she parted ways from her ex-boyfriend Artūrs Karašausks this year. She has kept the identity of her current boyfriend, an ice hockey player for HK Priedaine, private.
Jelena Ostapenko was accompanied by her boyfriend during the WTA Finals
Jelena Ostapenko entered the doubles at the WTA Finals in Riyadh with Lyudmyla Kichenok. The duo was unable to make it to the semifinals having lost three of their matches in the round-robin group stage.
The semifinal clash between Veronika Kudermetova-Chan Hao-ching and Taylor Townsend-Katerina Siniakova was won by the latter duo. However, they lost in the finals to the eventual champions Erin Routliffe and Gabriela Dabrowski.
During the event, Ostapenko shared her off-court moments with fans. She posted pictures from the Gala night at the year-end event where she could be seen with her boyfriend. The duo was accompanied by Kichenok and her fiance Stas Khmarsky, who is also Ostapenko's coach.
The couple was also seen in another post by Ostapenko catching a football game in Riyadh. They posed from the stands at the King Saud University stadium (also known as Al-Awwal stadium), home of the Al-Nassr FC.
Ostapenko is next likely to be seen at the United Cup when the 2025 season commences.
