Coco Gauff recently reminisced about her unique Marvel Comics milestone in a delightful throwback. In a crossover between sports and pop culture, Gauff has shared her nostalgic feelings about gracing the cover of Marvel's "Invincible Iron Man" series.
In a captivating collaboration back in 2023, Gauff appeared on the variant cover of Invincible Iron Man #7 alongside the popular Marvel superhero Ironheart. This initiative celebrated the incredible achievements and diversity of female athletes.
With only 3,000 copies available exclusively, this limited-edition comic became a collector’s item. The story within the comic saw Tony Stark, Iron Man, striving to rebuild his reputation and company, crafting a new suit of armor with the singular goal of dismantling Stark Industries.
Gauff, a self-professed Marvel enthusiast, was elated about this crossover, stating:
"As an avid Marvel fan, it’s surreal to be on a Marvel cover, especially with one of my favorite characters who is such a strong and powerful young woman."
Fast forward to December 16, 2024, and Gauff shared a delightful post on her Instagram story. She reshared a fan’s post that showcased their exclusive Marvel comics collection, with "Invincible Iron Man" #7 prominently featured.
"Lol another coco side quest, me on the cover of a Marvel comic," Gauff wrote.
In November 2023, five months after her cover feature, Gauff appeared alongside fellow American athletes Diana Taurasi and Sydney McLaughlin in a promotional video for the latest installment of the Captain Marvel movie series, The Marvels.
