Aryna Sabalenka recently made some candid revelations about her life. She opened up about whether she has faced any 'betrayals' in her life.
After wrapping up her successful 2024 season at the WTA Finals, where she made it to the semifinals before being defeated by Coco Gauff, Sabalenka represented Team Hawks at the 2024 World Tennis League in Abu Dhabi, alongside players like Mirra Andreeva, Sumit Nagal, and Jordan Thompson.
Sabalenka is currently in Australia to start her 2025 season at the Brisbane International. Ahead of her campaign at the WTA 500 event, she sat down for an interview where she was asked a very personal question.
The World No.1 was questioned if she has faced any betrayals in her life. In response, the Belarusian shared that she has indeed faced multiple betrayals in her life.
“Have you had many betrayals in your life?" the interviewer asked.
“Yes, and a lot," Sabalenka replied.
Aryna Sabalenka had an exceptional 2024 season, clinching four titles, including two Grand Slam victories and two WTA 1000 titles. She started the year by successfully defending her Australian Open title by defeting Zheng Qinwen in the final.
Later in the season, during the North American hard court swing, the World No.1 triumphed at the Cincinnati Open and the US Open, defeating Jessica Pegula in both finals.
Sabalenka's last title of the season came at the Wuhan Open where she was the two-time defending champion. She emerged victorious in the WTA 1000 tournament by once again defeating Qinwen in the final.
Aryna Sabalenka will be seen next in action at Brisbane International 2025
Aryna Sabalenka will begin her 2025 season at the Brisbane International which is scheduled to take place from December 30, 2024, to January 6, 2025, at the Queensland Tennis Centre.
Sabalenka is the top seed at the WTA 500 tournament and will start her campaign in the second round, having received a first-round bye. She will face Renata Zarazua in her opening match, with the winner advancing to face either 15th seed Yulia Putintseva or McCartney Kessler in the third round.
Speaking about playing at the Brisbane International, Sabalenka said:
“I’m really looking forward to returning to Brisbane again. I had a great time this year and enjoyed playing in front of the Queensland crowds . Hopefully I can go one better in 2025.” [via Brisbane International]
In 2024, Sabalenka reached the final at the Brisbane International but failed to win the title after losing to Elena Rybakina.
