Aryna Sabalenka playfully teased Paula Badosa about her liking for Greek men. The Belarusian also revealed that she and the Spaniard consider each other "soulmates."

There has been some light-hearted drama among Badosa, Sabalenka, and Ons Jabeur, as the Tunisian often teases the former World No. 1 by claiming to be Badosa's best friend. The 2021 Indian Wells champion even jokingly agreed with Jabeur's claim once, adding to the fun.

With this in mind, Jabeur and Sabalenka participated in a friendship challenge on June 19 during the Berlin Open to see who knows Badosa better. When asked who the Spaniard's best friend on the WTA Tour was, the Belarusian replied:

"I mean she made a statement that it's Ons [Jabeur], but we decided that I'm her soulmate. So, I guess Ons?"

The Tunisian then hilariously pointed at herself and said it was someone wearing green today, which was exactly the color she had on.

"I mean, someone wearing green today," she said.

Later, when asked about Paula Badosa's favorite shot in tennis, Aryna Sabalenka playfully brushed off the question, saying she rarely delves into those specifics.

Instead, the Belarusian humorously hinted that she could answer questions about Badosa's taste in men, specifically mentioning the Greek connection to the former World No. 2's boyfriend Stefanos Tsitsipas, who is from Greece.

"Her favorite shot? We are not talking about tennis. Like, I am not like talking to Paula like, 'Oh girl, what's your favorite shot? Can you tell me?' Especially we are like opponents on the court. But, you can ask me, like, what's her type of guy? I mean, obviously Greek. I mean, these questions, you know. I can assume forehand," Sabalenka said.

During a pre-tournament press conference at the 2024 Italian Open, Aryna Sabalenka opened up about her friendship with Paula Badosa, expressing deep affection for her. She also mentioned feeling fortunate to have found her soulmate in the Spaniard on the tour.

"I love Paula [Badosa] very much," Sabalenka said. "We have been friends for three or four years, she is an incredible person. It is very important to have friends on the circuit, so when you find someone who you feel is your soulmate, it is the best thing that can happen to you."

The former World No. 1 hoped for Badosa to recover from injuries and return to her former glory.

"She is the best. I hope she returns to the elite, that she stops suffering with injuries. I am always here for whatever she needs. I am lucky not to meet her in the first round here in Spain, it would create a very interesting atmosphere, so I think I'm lucky (laughs)," Sabalenka said.
