Day 4 of the Australian Open will see second-round matches begin for both men's and women's singles. Top seeds from both sides will look to keep up their good form and move towards the title.
On the men's side, all the top three seeds, namely, Jannik Sinner, Alexander Zverev, and Carlos Alcaraz, will be in action on Day 4. The day will also see Novak Djokovic take the court to continue his 2025 campaign.
Let's take a look at some of the men's singles matches on day 4 at the 2025 Australian Open
#6 Benjamin Bonzi vs Francesco Passaro
Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi will face Italian lucky loser Francesco Passaro in the second round of the 2025 Australian Open. Bonzi had a quarterfinal run at the Adelaide International as a qualifier, losing 2-6, 3-6 to Miomir Kecmanovic. At the Australian Open, he began his campaign with a 6-1, 6-2, 7-6 (7) win over former quarterfinalist David Goffin.
Francesco Passaro began his 2025 season with a 4-6, 4-6 loss against Pedro Martinez in the first round of the Hong Kong Open. At the Australian Open, he lost in the qualifiers against Nikoloz Basilashvili but entered the main draw as a lucky loser. The Italian won the first round against Grigor Dimitrov as the Bulgrain retired mid-match due to injury.
Bonzi and Passaro are yet to play each other. However Bonzi won a hard-court title at the end of the 2024 season at the Moselle Open. That title win will give him a slight edge in the upcoming match.

#5 Arthur Cazaux vs Jacob Fearnley
Another Frenchman Arthur Cazaux will be in action on day 4 of the Australian Open as he takes on Britain's Jacob Fearnley in the second round. Coming into the Australian Open, Cazux had won a single match in 2025, which came against Adam Walton at the Adelaide International. He then lost to Felix Auger-Aliassime in the next round.
At the Australian Open, he won 6-3, 5-7, 3-6, 6-0, 6-3 against 28th seed Sebastian Baez in the first round.
Jacob Fearnley played Challenger Tour tennis before the Australian Open and did not take part in any of the ATP events. However, the young Brit upstaged the local favorite Nick Kyrgios in the first round in Melbourne, winning the match 7-6 (3), 6-3, 7-6 (1).
Both of these players have not played each other previously. However, Cazaux has just played a five-setter and also has doubles matches on Day 3. Therefore the Frenchman's possible fatigue might give the edge to Fearnley.

#4 Roberto Carballes Baena vs James Duckworth
Another home favorite, James Duckworth will look to rally the crowd as he takes on Roberto Carballes Baena in the second round. Coming into Melbourne, Carballes Baena had a nice start to 2025 as he reached the quarterfinal at the ASB Classic, losing 6-1, 2-6, 3-6 against Zizou Bergs. At the Australian Open, the Spaniard won 1-6, 6-2, 6-3, 7-6 (1) against 23rd-seeded Alejandro Tabilo.
James Duckworth had not won any match at the ATP level this year before the Australian Open. He lost in the qualifiers at the Brisbane International and lost in the first round of the Adelaide International. However, he regained his form and registered a fine 6-2, 6-4, 6-2 win over Dominic Stricker in the first round.
This will be the first meeting between the two players but with the home crowd behind him, Duckworth will be the favorite to win the match.

#3 Jordan Thompson vs Nuno Borges
One of the three seeded Australian players, Jordan Thompson will be in action on Day 4 against Nuno Borges in the second round. Thompson began the 2025 season with a last-eight appearance at the Brisbane International, retiring in his match against Grigor Dimitrov. At the Australian Open, the 27th seed began his campaign with a 7-6 (3), 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 against Dominik Koepfer.
Nuno Borges started off his 2025 season with a run to the semifinal at the ASB Classic where he lost 2-6, 6-3, 5-7 against Zizou Bergs. Coming to Melbourne the Portuguese player won 6-7 (2), 6-3, 6-2, 7-5 against Alexander Muller in the first round.
Borges won the only match he played against Thompson at the 2021 Estoril Open, winning 7-6 (5), 6-3. However, the upcoming match is on the hard court and Thompson is the higher seed, making him the favorite for the match.

#2 Jiri Lehecka vs Hugo Gaston
24th-seed Jiri Lehecka is slated to take on Hugo Gaston of France in the second round of the Australian Open. The Czech player has already won a title in 2025, winning the Brisbane International where he won against Reilly Opelka via the American's retirement. At the Australian Open, he won 6-1, 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (1) against Li Tu in the first round.
Hugo Gaston had no wins under his belt in 2025 before the Australian Open, as he lost both his matches on the Challenger Tour and at the Qualifiers of the Adelaide International. However, at the Australian Open, he began with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 win over Australian wildcard opponent Omar Jasika.
The players have not played each other previously, but given he is one of the seeds, Lehecka will be the favorite.

#1 Ugo Humbert vs Hady Habib
14th seed Ugo Humbert will take on Lebanese qualifier Hady Habib in the second round of the Australian Open. The Frenchman began his 2025 season at the United Cup, He won his match against Dominic Stricker but lost against Flavio Cobolli. At the Australian Open, he won 7-6 (5), 7-5, 6-4 against Matteo Gigante in the first round.
Hady Habib did not play at any ATP events before the Australian Open. The Lebanese player got the better of the likes of Patrick Kypson, Chun Hsin Tseng, and Clement Chidekh in the qualifiers to get in the main draw. He won 7-6 (4), 6-4, 7-6 (6) against Bu Yunchaokete in the first round.
These two players have never played on the ATP Tour previously. However, Umbert being the higher seed, will be the favorite for the upcoming match.
