After weeks of excitement, the Australian Open 2025 will finally get underway from this Sunday, January 12. Two-time defending champion Aryna Sabalenka headlines the order of play for the first day. She will take on former US Open champion Sloane Stephens in one of the must-see matches of the day.
Last year's runner-up Zheng Qinwen will also take to the court against qualifier Anca Todoni for her first-round match. World No. 2 Alexander Zverev, twice a semifinalist Down Under, will begin his campaign against Frenchman Lucas Pouille.
Teen sensation Mirra Andreeva will take on Marie Bouzkova in her opener. World No. 6 Casper Ruud is another big name in the mix on the first day. Former US Open finalists Kei Nishikori and Leylah Fernandez, along with Paula Badosa, Reilly Opelka, Ugo Humbert, and Linda Noskova are some of the other well-known names in the fray on Sunday.

Australian Open 2025: Match Timings
The first match on the two biggest courts, Rod Laver Arena and Margaret Court Arena, will begin at 11:30 a.m. local time. Proceedings on all other courts will commence at 11:00 a.m., except for Courts 5 and 7, where matches will begin at 2:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. respectively.
