A manic Monday is on the cards at the Australian Open 2025 as Day 2 of the tournament will feature a ton of matches. Heavy rains played spoilsport on the first day of the tournament, which led to the schedule going haywire. Matches that couldn't be completed on the first day will be contested on Monday.
Defending champion Jannik Sinner will commence his title defense against Nicolas Jarry. Coco Gauff will take on fellow Grand Slam champion Sofia Kenin in her opener. Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz will kick off the evening session on the Rod Laver Arena and the Margaret Court Arena respectively.
Djokovic will face Nishesh Basavareddy in his first-round match, while Alcaraz will go up against Alexander Shevchenko. Five-time Major champion Iga Swiatek will also be in action, and will take on doubles World No. 1 Katerina Siniakova. Nick Kyrgios will make his Grand Slam return with a first-round duel against Jacob Fearnley.
Naomi Osaka and Caroline Garcia will meet in the first round here for the second year in a row. The Frenchwoman knocked out the former World No. 1 back then, who will be keen to avenge the loss this time. Jessica Pegula, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Danielle Collins, and Frances Tiafoe are some of the other big names in the mix.
