Day 4 of the Australian Open 2025 will mark the start of the second round in singles. World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka's title defense will continue against Jessica Bouzas Maneiro. The Spaniard took down defending champion Marketa Vondrousova at last year's Wimbledon, so this could be a tricky contest for the top seed.
Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz, both on their own historic quests in Melbourne, will take on Jaime Faria and Yoshihito Nishioka in their respective second-round matches. The Serb is gunning to win his 25th Major crown, while the Spaniard is aiming to complete the Career Grand Slam.
Coco Gauff's unbeaten start to the new season will be put to the test against Jodie Burrage. Tommy Paul and Kei Nishikori both needed five sets to win their openers, and will now face each other in the second round.
Naomi Osaka will go up against Karolina Muchova, who ousted her from last year's US Open in the second round as well. Top 10 players Casper Ruud, Zheng Qinwen, Jessica Pegula, and Alexander Zverev will also take to the court on Wednesday.
