The seeds for Australian Open 2025 are out, and two-time defending champion Aryna Sablenka is at the top. This is the first singles Major where the Belarusian will be the No. 1 seed. Sabalenka has been in incredible form and started the 2025 season with a title victory in Brisbane.
Iga Swiatek is the second seed at the Melbourne Major and it will be the first time she will not be the top seed at a Grand Slam since the tournament's 2022 edition. The Pole will enter the Australian Open at the back of helping her country to a runner-up finish at the United Cup.
The tournament's MVP, Coco Gauff, is the third seed in the year's first Grand Slam and will be a heavy favorite to win. The 20-year-old ended her 2024 season with victory at the WTA Finals and her 2025 started with a United Cup triumph, where she beat Swiatek in the final.
Jasmine Paolini is the fourth seed at the Melbourne Major, followed by WTA Finals runner-up Zheng Qinwen at fifth. Elena Rybakina will enter the tournament as the sixth seed after helping Kazakhstan reach the semifinals of the United Cup. US Open runner-up Jessica Pegula is the seventh seed and is currently competing at the Adelaide International, where she has already reached the quarterfinals.
Another player who reached the last eight of the WTA 500 event is Emma Navarro, who is seeded eighth at the Melbourne Major, followed by Daria Kasatkina at ninth. 2022 runner-up Danielle Collins completes the Top 10 seeds at Australian Open 2025.
Paula Badosa and Madison Keys are among the Top 20 seeds at Australian Open 2025
Paula Badosa had a period of resurgence in 2024 that saw her inch close to a return to the Top 10 of the WTA rankings. The Spaniard is seeded 11th at the Australian Open and will enter the tournament at the back of a second-round exit at the Adelaide International, where she narrowly lost to Ashlyn Krueger.
Diana Shnaider is seeded 12th while Anna Kalinskaya is 13th, and 14th seed Mirra Andreeva will enter her first Grand Slam as a player in the Top 15. Former top-10 players Beatriz Haddad Maia and Jelena Ostapenko are seeded 15th and 16th respectively while 2024 quarterfinalist Marta Kostyuk is the 17th seed. Donna Vekic, Madison Keys, and Karolina Muchova complete the Top 20.
Former World No. 1 Victoria Azarenka, Elina Svitolina, and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova are among the other seeds at the Australian Open.
