Tennis legends Chris Evert, Martina Navratilova, and tennis journalist Brad Gilbert condemned gun violence in the USA following the school shooting in Tennessee. The tennis fraternity took to social media to call for a ban on all assault weapons in the country.

Six lives were lost in a school shooting in Nashville, Tennessee, three of whom were children. The shooter was identified as an ex-student of the school. This was the 13th school shooting incident in the country.

American tennis legend Chris Evert took to Twitter to express her views on the matter. She shared a post featuring a Tennessee congressman posing for a Christmas picture with his children, each holding a firearm. Evert expressed how disturbing this was.

“That’s disturbing,” read her tweet accompanied by a sad emoji.

Evert’s rival and friend, Martina Navratilova, also expressed shock at the statistic that at least 16 million Americans own the AR-15 firearm.

Meanwhile, tennis analyst Brad Gilbert opined that all assault weapons must be banned ASAP. He also called the USA’s laws on guns “insanity.”

“I have written so many times about my hate of guns, our laws on guns is the definition of insanity, another senseless mass school shooting yesterday in Nashville and same rhetoric from politicians, never emergency meetings to stop ban all assault weapons asap” Gilbert tweeted.

Chris Evert also retweeted a picture with a clear message that people should not be allowed to have guns, and the time for thoughts and prayers is gone; it is time for action.

American tennis legend Chris Evert has spoken out in support of Prince Harry in his legal battle against the Daily Mail.

The 18-time Grand Slam champion has sided with the royal family against Prince Harry and Meghan Markle over past issues.

However, this time around, the 68-year-old has voiced her opinion in their favor, stating that the British outlet has been known to cross the line.

“There are many wonderful journalists in England, but I have to say, for the most part, the British tabloids very often are brutal and do cross the lines of integrity. I agree with Prince Harry on this one…” Evert tweeted.

As per CNN, Prince Harry and Sir Elton John have joined hands to file a lawsuit against the Daily Mail for “abhorrent criminal activity and gross breaches of privacy."
