Madison Keys is now a Grand Slam champion, fulfilling her dream by triumphing at the 2025 Australian Open. She displayed extraordinary form throughout the tournament, which ultimately earned her the long-awaited glory.

Keys arrived in Melbourne riding high on confidence after a title win at the Adelaide International. She began her campaign with a victory over compatriot Ann Li, followed by wins against Elena-Gabriela Ruse, Danielle Collins, Elena Rybakina, Elina Svitolina, and Iga Swiatek, setting up a final showdown with Aryna Sabalenka.

On Saturday, January 26, the American delivered arguably the best performance of her career, defeating two-time defending champion Sabalenka 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 to get her hands on the trophy. This marked her second Grand Slam final, the first being at the 2017 US Open, where she fell to close friend Sloane Stephens.

Congratulations flooded in for Madison Keys from across the tennis world, with well-wishes from fellow players such as Ben Shelton, Jessica Pegula, Carlos Alcaraz, Taylor Townsend, Caroline Dolehide, and many more.

Madison Keys on winning Australian Open: "I have wanted this for so long"

After defeating Aryna Sabalenka to claim her maiden Grand Slam title at the 2025 Australian Open, Madison Keys was overcome with emotion, shedding tears of joy. She celebrated by embracing her team, including her coach and husband, Bjorn Fratangelo.

During her victory speech, Keys expressed heartfelt gratitude to them, thanking them for their belief in her.

"Thank you to my team ... and this is where I’m going to cry. I have wanted this for so long," she said.

The 29-year-old added:

"I have been to one other Grand Slam final and it did not go my way and I didn’t know if I’d ever get back to this position to try and win a trophy again. But my team believed in me every step of the way, so thank you so much."

Alongside the trophy, Keys received a hefty paycheck of $2,198,928 while Sabalenka took home $1,193,704.
