The 2024 Paris Masters draw is out, and fans have reacted to Ben Shelton, Jannik Sinner, Daniil Medvedev, Carlos Alcaraz and others' respective draws at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament. Novak Djokovic, the defending champion, will not be playing at the event, having announced his withdrawal from a few days ago.

World No. 1 Sinner, among the favorites for the title, is set to start his campaign in Paris against either Felix Auger-Aliassime or Ben Shelton. Meanwhile, Daniil Medvedev is slated to face Alexei Popyrin or Matteo Berrettini. Carlos Alcaraz, the reigning French Open and Wimbledon champion, may run into Nicolas Jarry or a qualifier/Special Exempt (SE). Sinner, Medvedev and Alcaraz have all received first-round byes.

Other seeded players at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament include Holger Rune, Alex de Minaur, Taylor Fritz, Alexander Zverev, Lorenzo Musetti, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Andrey Rublev, Grigor Dimitrov, Hubert Hurkacz, Frances Tiafoe, Casper Ruud, Tommy Paul and Ugo Humbert.

Fans, excited at the prospects of the potential matchups at the tournament, poured in with their reactions at the draw on Reddit. Some particularly assessed Jannik Sinner's draw, opining how the reigning Australian Open and US Open champion is likely to have a tough time on his hands in the French capital.

"SHELTON NEEDS A RESTRAINING ORDER ON SINNER OH MY GOD. They’ve gotta be sick of each other at this point. Can’t he play another top 10??? Edit: and I just noticed Griekspoor drew Zverev. I know we joke about him drawing Sinner all the time, but his losses to Zverev this year have been brutal," a fan wrote, referring to the American and the Italian's three 2024 meetings so far (Indian Wells, Wimbledon, and Shanghai).
"Meddy is free from Sinner after idk when, it’s been 85 years for me," commented another fan, citing Daniil Medvedev and Jannik Sinner being placed far apart in the draw.
"Shelton and Rune in his first 2 matches is ridiculous," another chimed in.
"Wow Sinner's draw is insane," yet another fan opined.

Carlos Alcaraz's draw, while generally less talked about than Sinner's, was still discussed by some fans. According to them, the World No. 2 has a much easier route to the deeper stages of the Paris Masters compared to Sinner.

"Carlos definitely has the least dangerous quarter though by some margin," wrote one fan.
"Not saying it's necessarily going to happen, but if Carlos is going to be upset anywhere it's probably on indoor hard. At least I think that's more likely to happen than a Sinner upset," predicted another.

Ben Shelton is still looking for his first win over Jannik Sinner this year.

The BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells was the first tournament where Ben Shelton and Jannik Sinner clashed this year. On that occasion, eventual semifinalist Sinner won the match 7-6(4), 6-1. The Italian was ultimately ousted from the tournament by Carlos Alcaraz in the semifinals.

Shelton and Sinner's next matchup came at the Wimbledon Championships. Once again, it was the World No. 1 who came up trumps with a 6-2, 6-4, 7-6(9) win before being eventually eliminated by Daniil Medvedev in the quarterfinals.

Their most recent encounter came at the Shanghai Masters, where Sinner emerged victorious again with a 6-4, 7-6(1) score. The tournament witnessed the Italian win the fourth ATP Masters 1000 tournament of his career. All three of Sinner's clashes with Shelton came in the Round of 16.
