Ben Shelton's sister, Emma Shelton, celebrated the Ohio State Buckeyes becoming the national champions. Her brother is currently competing at the 2025 Australian Open.
Shelton qualified for the quarterfinals of the tournament on January 20, competing against Gael Monfils, 6(7), 6-7(3), 7-6(7), 1-0. Amid this celebratory moment, the player's sister, who is a well-known college tennis player, gave a shout-out to Maxence LeBlanc, the Ohio State Buckeyes tight end, after his team's win (34-23) against the Notre Dame Fighting on January 21.
The Buckeyes grabbed the national title after ten years, which makes it even more special for the team. Emma took to her Instagram, sharing a picture of the celebrations of their win in the stadium and wrote:
"Champs!!! @Maxx-lebl"
Ahead of this, Emma also cheered for her brother, after he advanced to the quarterfinal round at the Australian Open. She reshared posts from the ATP tour, which showcased his achievement of reaching his second Australian Open final.
Ben Shelton started his 2025 season by competing at the ASB Classic but faced an early exit, being bested by Jakub Mensik in round one of the tournament, 7-6(7), 4-6, 7-5.

On January 20, Ben Shelton and Gael Monfils squared off against each other at the Margaret Court Arena in the fourth round of the Australian Open. The American won while the French player had to retire early, citing a back injury in the fourth set.
Following this clash, Monfils spoke positively about his opponent in the press conference, stating that he 'loves' him.
"I love Ben Shelton; you know, I love, I love him," Monfils said. "You know this kid is amazing. He's full of energy and is a great guy. He's a great kid and it's always too bad to play someone that you love and but we put the fighting spirit out. You know, that why I was still out there, making it tough for him, but at the end, you know, of course."
Along with this, Monfils also added that he is rooting for Shelton's upcoming quarterfinal match:
"Now I'm rooting for [Ben Shelton], he's a guy that I really appreciate spending time with, talking with him, sharing anything, you know, that we love and he's a, he's just amazing kid."
Shelton will next compete against Lorenzo Sonego in the quarterfinal on January 22. The American has won two ATO Tour singles titles in his career, including the Japan Open 2023 and Houston Open 2024.
